Women in History Month a month long exhibit featuring Pioneering Women of the High Desert and honoring the Daily Press 2008 Inspiring women winners.

The museum will be closed March 21 through March 23 in observance of Easter allowing our volunteers and staff to celebrate the holiday with their families.

May 7th Life Line Screening

Victor Valley Museum & Art Gallery located at 11873 Apple Valley Road will host Life Line Screening on May, 7 2008. Life Line Screening will be screening for blockage in the carotid arteries in the neck (75% of all strokes are linked to carotid artery blockage). They will also be checking the arteries in the legs for Peripheral Arterial Disease or PAD, which is linked to heart disease and. They offer a third screening that tests for aneurysms in the aortic vessel in the abdomen and a fourth screening for early detection of osteoporosis. There is a new screening for Atrial Fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) that is beneficial for stroke prevention. This is a preventative program for anyone over the age of 40 and it is worth participating in. Your screening results are sent to you within 21 days after they are reviewed by a board certified physician and you are then able to take those results to your own personal physician. These low cost, non-invasive, completely painless screenings take about 10 minutes each. You must pre-register. Please call 800-643-6075 for an appointment or for further information. Informational flyers can be picked up at the Museum. The Museum will be closed May 24&25 in observance of Memorial Day allowing our volunteers to spend the holiday with their families.

“Hands on” science is fun and educational !! At Science Adventure, we believe that learning science in an active process. This belief is one of the key principles that have guided the development of the Science Adventures education programs for over twenty years. During the past year over 30,000 children experienced our “hands on” projects while learning exciting science concepts. Our curriculum features lessons that include many “hands on”, “take home” projects that emphasize key science concepts based on the National Science Standards.

Hispanic Heritage Month a month long exhibit featuring local Hispanic Pioneers. In the Art Gallery, we will feature renowned Hispanic Arts from the High Desert.
