Classroom Field Tour Program
The Museum offers an important adjunct to the classroom studies of the High Desert’s pre-school programs and school children. Helping to extend classroom learning through our visual and “hands on” Museum learning experience. Your children will tour the Victor Valley Museum & Art Gallery which will include exhibits, artifacts and information about the history, art and culture of our High Desert community. Following are brief descriptions of some of the programs that your children might experience.
Tortoise Club of the High Desert, Tortoise Expert
Fascinating and delightful anecdotes about the long lives
of the Tortoise and their intriguing habits and
role in the natural history of the High Desert.
Dorothy Crane, Whispering 4 Winds
- A basket weaving presentation for children that includes a “show and tell” of Native American history and folklore.
- Southwestern Indian artifacts, regalia, tales, and demonstrations of the customs of the native tribes who lived along the Mojave River a century ago.
“The Bird Family," Nancy & Bob Lipkin Dodd
- Visit with their live birds
- They teach the care and history of birds
- Display of award winning art work
- Demos are available of bird paintings
Val Meir, Art in Photography, Art-in-Education
Inspiring talks for children with examples and
illustrations of drawing. Oils, water colors,
acrylics, photography and other artistic media.
What “hidden art” is all about, and how children
can discover, sometimes, the “hidden artist”
within themselves.

Designed for pre-school on up this
room is a rewarding experience for all
who enter. Children can not only look but can
touch the many antique exhibits.
They can dress up as fireman, police men
and military as well as old-fashioned
clothes and hats. As children are busy
exploring the Imagination Station parents can
sit and relax in the “park area".
Imagination Station
Tours available on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings only for groups of 20 or more. The average tour of the main gallery last about
20 - 30 minutes. You rotate your classes through the Main Gallery, Imagination Station and Art Gallery.
Plan on at least 1 to 1 1/2 hour for your tour.
